Inspired by a revelation Tash had after reading her latest non-fiction novel, and being disappointed, again, by the lack of an ending worth having rushed through the book for. In this episode we get into something Tash had forgotten, and maybe you have too: we’re so busy trying to “get there” - to the goal, the breakthrough, the big finish - that we miss what’s happening right now. It was that clue that maybe rushing through the story was exactly what so many of us do in our lives. Totally missing the story in the middle. The plot twists. The tiny wins. The character development, I mean this is where any good author puts all their effort into, because it is the important part!
If you totally get the wanting to rush through the book just to find out how it ends, or maybe you’re a read the ending first person, this might just be happening in your life too. This episode is your gentle nudge to pause. To take a moment to enjoy the story development, what is happening along the way. To remember just like the author of any book, you’re not just building a result, writing for an ending - you’re writing your story.
In this episode:
Why the ending isn’t the most important part
How focusing only on results can rob the joy from the journey
What it looks like to celebrate the “in-process” version of yourself
Letting go of the pressure to wrap everything in a neat bow
Remembering that the messy middle is the magic
This episode is less about giving you a to-do list, and more about inviting you to zoom out - to see your own story as something worth being in, even when it’s unclear how the chapter ends. Because the middle is where the real stuff lives. And you’re right in it.
So celebrate your wins, get dirty and take it slow, because at the end of the day we all know how the story really ends, and what is important is all the stuff we get up to before then!
